The Red Mountains

Along Red Mountain Pass between Silverton and Ouray, there are actually three of these mountains. Here you have just a bit of Red Mountain #1 at the left of the pano. In the middle is Red Mountain #2, and near the right is Red Mountain #3. I find them to be such striking peaks, especially in fall and with a sugar coating of snow on the top. This panoramic was a finalist in the December, 2002 contest at betterphoto.com.

Over the River and Through the Woods

We took a sleigh ride at Chair Mountain Stables in Redstone. This photo was a Week 12 Finalist in the d-contest Fall 2002 contest.

The Happy Couple

A bighorn ewe and ram pose in front of a Colorado high-altitude sky. Taken in Park County. The image was a finalist in the d-contest Fall 2002 competition for Week 11.

Rime Ice

On our way to go skiing at Copper Mountain, there was a lot of fog steaming off of Lake Dillon. It had condensed and frozen on the trees. We decided right then that we were going to be late hitting the slopes. This shot of the beautiful rime ice was the Scenic Photo of the Day on bestfoto.com for December 30, 2002.

Holiday Lights, Denver's Civic Center

The theme of "Peace on Earth" was displayed at Denver's Civic Center. This panoramic was the Scenic Photo of the Day at Shutterbugs on December 26, 2002 and at Digitalphotocontest.com on January 6, 2003 in the Panorama Category. It was also a finalist in the December, 2002 contest at betterphoto.com.

High Altitude Reflections

Taken on Red Mountain Pass in fall, this picture received Scenic Photo of the Day honors at Digitalphotocontest.com on December 23, 2002 and on bestfoto.com for December 24, 2002.

Reflecting Rockies

Maroon Bells treated us to a moonset on a beautiful June day. This photo was the Photo of the Day at Steve's Digicams on December 14, 2002 and at bestfoto.com on December 4th, 2002.

Fallen

This image of oak leaves that had fallen on a fresh layer of snow was a finalist in the November, 2002 contest at betterphoto.com.

Natural Smile

This little girl was at a soccer tournament, staying warm in a small tent while her brother played. She smiled so naturally and was quite in tune with the camera. Her portrait was a finalist in the November, 2002 contest at betterphoto.com.

Columbine Barn Study

A gem of an old barn on open space in our county (Douglas County, Colorado). It was a d-contest Fall 2002 Week 9 winner.

Colorado Splendor

Ophir Pass, between the historic town of Ophir and Silverton, was alive with color in the fall. An early snowstorm also blessed us with its beauty on the peaks. This image was an October contest finalist at betterphoto.com. and the Photo of the Day at Sony Imagestation on October 26, 2002.

Walden Horses

These horses sure have a great view of the Snowy Range in their backyard. They took the Photo of the Day honors at Bestfoto in the Animals category on June 24, 2002.

Oak Leaves in the Snow

This image of oak leaves that had fallen on a fresh layer of snow was a finalist in the October, 2002 contest at betterphoto.com.

San Juan Scenic Byway

As we made our way from Telluride to Ophir, we came across some vibrant color and Mt. Wilson in the background. This image was the Scenic Photo of the Day at Bestfoto on November 7, 2002.

Mountain Goat Kid

A precious little one that we found in the midst of the herd on Mt. Evans. The baby was the Photo of the Day in the Animals category on Digitalphotocontest.com for November 5, 2002.

Life on the Edge

An old powerhouse atop Bridal Veil Falls in Telluride. The photo was the Scenic Photo of the Day at Bestfoto on November 3, 2002.

Wild Donkeys of Cripple Creek

One wouldn't ordinarily think of donkeys as wild. But these donkeys roam freely around the Cripple Creek area, and are oftentimes found right in town. They are direct descendants of donkeys that the miners used underground to haul their gold ore. They were finalists in the d-store Fall 2002 Contest.

Harley Guy

I seem to run into the nicest Harley guys. This fellow was in Cripple Creek. His portrait was the People Photo of the Day at Bestfoto on October 17, 2002.

Fall On The Divide

On the last day of our fall color trip, we discovered this scene on the Dallas Divide near Ridgway. It was the Photo of the Month at Sony Imagestation for November, 2002 as well as the Scenic Photo of the Day at Bestfoto on October 15, 2002.
