Sunset, Paradise Divide

One evening I went up alone to a high pass called the Paradise Divide. It truly is Paradise. This sunset became my favorite image of my whole 9-day trip. Rainbow on Cinnamon Pass

We had a storm move through as we went over Cinnamon Pass, a four-wheel drive road. I radioed a friend and told him that if we were lucky, we might see a rainbow as the storm passed through. Suddenly, there it was! It was the Bestfoto Scenic Photo of the Day on August 15, 2004, and at Photoshowdown on August 27, where it later became a finalist for the month.

Let Freedom Ring

Our local Parker, Colorado fireworks show provided a colorful celebration for July 4th. This photo was a semifinalist in the Betterphoto July 2004 contest.

Near Silverton, this scene immediately jumped out as a photo opportunity . The waterfall and historic cabin became the Bestfoto Scenic Photo of the Day on August 13, 2004, and on Photoshowdown on August 20, 2004.

Evening on Red Mountain Pass

Reflections in a small pond got the honors of the Bestfoto Scenic Photo of the Day on August 11, 2004 and on Shutterbugs for August 9, 2004 and Photoshowdown on August 17, 2004, and was a finalist in the August 2004 contest at Betterphoto.

The Yankee Girl Mine From the "Other" Side

This mine is one that I have photographed many times from the "front" side. But I have always wanted to get over to the back side. It was not disappointing. It became the Bestfoto Scenic Photo of the Day on August 5, 2004, as well as a semifinalist and finalist in the Betterphoto July 2004 Contest.

Young Kid

Born only a few weeks before this photo was taken, a mountain goat kid was resting on top of a rock in the morning light. This little one was the Photoshowdown Animals Photo of the Day on July 18, 2004.

Mt. of the Holy Cross

Hiking a short ways to an overlook on Shrine Pass results in this view of the famous Colorado "fourteener." The image was the Scenic photo of the day on Photoshowdown for July 21, 2004.

The Journey

This ladybug descending a backyard plant was a semifinalist in the Betterphoto June 2004 contest.
